Household storage is commonly used during moves, home renovations, downsizing, decluttering projects, and life transitions such as college, military deployment, or estate management. Many families also use self-storage units to free up valuable space in garages, closets, attics, and basements while keeping important belongings easily accessible. Long-term household storage provides a convenient and affordable solution for storing items that are not needed daily but are still valuable or sentimental.

The size of storage unit you need depends on the number and type of items you plan to store. Smaller units are often ideal for boxes, seasonal items, and small furniture, while medium and larger units can accommodate the contents of multiple rooms, appliances, and larger household furniture. At A Storage Box, our knowledgeable staff can help you estimate the appropriate storage unit size based on your belongings and storage goals, helping you avoid paying for unnecessary space.

At A Storage Box, security is a top priority for every household storage customer. Our facilities feature 24-hour recorded camera monitoring, well-maintained grounds, and secure access areas to help protect customer belongings around the clock. We understand that families trust us with valuable and sentimental possessions, which is why we work hard to maintain a clean, safe, and dependable storage environment at all of our Springfield, Lincoln, and Beardstown locations.

Household storage units are designed to hold a wide variety of personal belongings, including furniture, clothing, appliances, seasonal decorations, bicycles, electronics, and boxes of household items. Many customers also use self-storage units for family heirlooms, important documents, and items that no longer fit comfortably inside their homes. Climate-controlled storage units are especially beneficial for delicate belongings such as wood furniture, antiques, artwork, and electronics that require extra protection from temperature and humidity changes.

All rent is due on the 1st of each month. We grant a 5 day grace period before our Point of Sale system recognizes a payment is late.

Our Point of Sale system automatically overlocks a past due unit on the 6th of the month. At that point, the account is officially past due.

An Overlock fee of $5 is generated on the 6th when the system overlocks the unit. Late fees are generated as a dollar per day (not to exceed $20 monthly) after the 6th of each month.

On the 16th of the month our system automatically generates a reminder notice to you advising the account has gone into past due status per our rental contract.

On the 30th/31st our system will generate a Default Notice to you advising the account has gone into default per our rental contract.

After 45 days of non-pay our system will automatically process the account for Auction. At this time a letter is sent to you by Certified Mail advising your unit has remained unpaid. If the account is not paid in full by the date indicated on the letter, the unit will be auctioned on the date printed on the letter.

ONLY PAYMENT IN FULL WILL STOP THE PROCEEDINGS.

You will need to turn in BOTH keys issued to you. You may do so by coming into the office during business hours, or drop them in the payment slot at the location. Please be sure the unit tab identifying your unit is attached. We will process your move out on the next business day.

Key refunds are processed and mailed on the 6th of each month for the previous month's move outs, or the next business day after the 6th. Please verify we have your current address. You may do so by contacting our office at 217/753-3075, or stopping by the office during business hours.
